Ukwu-Nzu is under odianiclan ni Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta at latitude 060 231 and 060 251N and longitude 060 201 and 060 240E. Ukwu-Nzu is located about 15km North of Iseke-Uku
Historical Background of the town
Ukwu-Nzu is an ancient town in Aniocha North Local Government Area. Ukwu-Nzu migrated from Ife during the time of Oduduwa of Ife gave out his first son orumila to be the first oba of benin. Some of those who accompanied to the coronation later migrated to places like Ukwu-Nzu.
Ukwu-Nzu got his name because our land is full of native chalk, the Nzu, we are very rich in Kaoline, Clay and Lignite. We were initially referred to as Eko which in Benin means war camp. After the coronation of the then oba of benin, there were lots of inter-tribal wars because they were trying to seize the same power. During that time, they made Ukwu-Nzu war camp and called it Eko. After the war he went back to benin, while some of the followers remained in the place.
Up till date, igbo is not our language. Our main language is Ohokunmi which in benin dialet, means my friends. We are majorly farmers. We produce the best yams, cassava, plantain, garri and many other crops
Today Ukwu-Nzu has seven quarters Ogbeagidi, Idumuafor, Idumuokakwu, Ogbe-Okwe, Inyogo, Eko-Ocha,
About the Author
Isioma Happy Ifejiokwu was born in the cool evening on Friday, on 27th February , 1987 to the family of Mike Ifejiokwu. He had his elementary training in Eko primary school Ukwu-Nzu form 1993-1999. In 2000, he further his secondary education to Ohami (mixed) secondary school and through the hand of fortune was transferred to St-Augustine’s College, Ibusa in 2002. Isioma Happy completed his secondary education as the best science student in 2006 as a vibrant dynamic teenagers, he organize many more program and led some indoor church meeting of young people. He convener Ukwu-Nzu believers youth conference out, 2006 in Anglican Church Ukwu-Nzu.
Because insatiable hunger to explore the wealth of chemistry, he further secure Admission into Delta State University Abraka to study chemistry.
During his undergraduate days, he was involve actively in Aniocha-Oshulili cultural Association and was the treasure of national association of delta north students (Anioma) from 2010 to 2011. He was a role model and mentor the department of chemistry. As a dynamic teacher, Isioma was a Sunday teacher from first year to final year and disciple teachers to new converts. In 2012, he graduated as one of the best student in chemistry department he was the pioneer president of Ukwu-Nzu students association (2010).
Isioma was called to serve in Enugu, one year compulsory service in camp, he won etisalat prize for second best public speaker on a topic accelerating entrepreneurship skill innovation. During the one year NYSC, he did a personal project to impact the community and was awarded the best corper that have ever serve in Oguga. He maximize the opportunity to do a diploma course in Database management and networking in CTC Enugu. He was the leader of MDGs, MBANABON ZONE, Enugu.
In 2014, Isioma move down to Lagos in search of greener pasture. By the special grace of God, he successfully completed his training in a All Nation for Christ Bible with diploma in theology. And presently the vice president Christian youth fellowship int’l, Agape force coordinator and the Sunday school superintendent in church of God Mission Int’l Inc. Ajeromi provincial headquarters Milk & Honey center.
His hobbies are reading, writing, counseling and surfing internet. His best food are Pounded yam and Egusi soup, Roasted plantain and water melon.
